What is DPR?

DPR (Deaf Pickleball Ratings) is a free community archive and rating system built specifically for the Deaf pickleball community. It exists to give Deaf players visibility, recognition, and verified match history — none of which currently exists in mainstream rating systems.

DPR is run by a Deaf player, for the Deaf community.

Why is my name in DPR without me signing up?

DPR builds data from three sources, in order of preference:

  1. Players submit data to DPR — matches shared directly by players
  2. Tournament directors submit data to DPR — official records shared directly by TDs
  3. DPR gathers and verifies data from available sources — when neither of the above is provided

You may appear in DPR through any of these paths. This approach is standard across rating systems — DUPR, USA Pickleball, chess.com, and FIDE all work the same way: they organize match records into structured systems with player input where possible.

How is my DPR rating calculated?

DPR uses verified tournament results — TD-confirmed match data — and applies a community-specific rating formula. We focus on limited but verified data rather than self-reported matches. The more verified matches in your history, the more accurate your rating becomes.

What if my rating doesn't reflect my real skill?

This usually happens when DPR only has a small slice of your match history. Two options:

  • Wait — as more events get added, your rating will adjust.
  • Share more matches — message us with your tournament records and we'll verify and add them.

Your data is yours. You can also remove your name at any time.

What does “Your Profile, Your Control” actually mean?

🟢 CLAIM

Take ownership of your DPR profile, edit your bio, add ASL video, control what's visible.

🙈 HIDE

Make your profile private. You stay in the system but don't appear publicly.

✏️ CORRECT

Flag any incorrect match data. We verify and fix.

❌ REMOVE

Have your name removed from DPR. Your matches are anonymized but stay in the database for rating accuracy (see below).

What happens if I ask to remove my name?

Your name and identifying information are removed from your DPR profile and from all public displays.

Match records remain in the database with your name replaced by “Removed Player.” This is standard practice across all major rating systems (DUPR, chess.com, FIDE, USTA) because the matches affect other players' ratings. Removing the matches entirely would corrupt ratings for everyone you played with or against.

You won't appear publicly anywhere on DPR. Removal requests are processed within 48 hours.

See our Privacy Policy for full details on Close Account vs Anonymize options.

Is DPR the same as DUPR?

No. DUPR is a global rating system with 1.5+ million players and a mature Elo-derived algorithm. DPR is a community-specific recognition layer built for Deaf players. We're not trying to replace DUPR — we exist alongside it, providing visibility and recognition that mainstream systems don't.

Is DPR free?

Yes. DPR is free to use, and our goal is to keep it free for as long as possible. Recognition shouldn't be locked behind a paywall for a community this small.

Who runs DPR?

DPR was created by Ben Pena, a Deaf pickleball player and founder of PickleUnlimited. Built by a Deaf player, for the Deaf community.

How do I contact DPR?
